so i was reading through the headlines in the advocate today, and came across this story. my first reaction to this was wow, this really happens. but then that was dismissed with the fact that this is in the state of Utah which highly condems homosexuality. this is where i became very unimpressed. my personal belief on the whole issue of gay parents fostering and adopting children is why not let them? if they can provide a stable safe environment for the child then just leave it be. now the problem i see is that the hard Christian right believes every homosexual is a pedophile and if they are given guardianship over a child they will only use them for their sexual fantasys. and yes, i'm not going to say this doesnt happen, however it happens in cases with heterosexual couples also. why can't people just believe that not all gay people are the same, yes there are some bad eggs but as a whole we are just living out our lives the best way we know how.

You have to wonder what type of family environment they will recieve, either from a gay partnership or a normal marriage relationship. Yes Utah does have problems when it comes to religous believes among other things. Many adoption agencies look at families whom can provide a stable family relationship and many cases those whom have a heterosexual marriage and relationship are the best fit. They mainly have to abide by state laws and regulations and even federal ones when it comes to adoption policies.
Yes, there are many couples that are heterosexual that are not good role models I'm sure. Personally I was brought up in an abusive home and it still affects me.
If gay people are born that way . having gay parents would be less affecting , but from a gay person I've talked to...he believes he became gay because of events that happened to him in his life.
What will be the effect of raising someone in a gay household? THis is a difficult question to be sure. Is this environment best for a child?
